We believe clients should stay with a developer because the relationship works — not because leaving would mean starting again.
No deliberate lock-in

Where appropriate, substantial applications are built in their own project environment, using established technologies, with maintainable structure, deployment information and useful technical documentation. This creates a route to transfer if you later want another team to manage the application.
Clarity

Ownership can involve:

- Infrastructure information
- Deployment instructions
- Relevant credentials / accounts
- Data export paths
- Third-party service details
Worth knowing
We don't promise transferability of third-party subscriptions or licences that may carry their own contractual restrictions — that's between you and the provider, not something we can override.
Standard technology matters
Another competent developer should be able to understand the project.
We avoid unnecessary proprietary systems, and use familiar technologies with clear documentation. The goal is maintainability — not dependence on one team, one person or one unusual stack.
Dedicated project environments
The project has a home of its own.
For substantial projects, we may create a dedicated project environment around that application — covering the codebase, deployment configuration, project documentation, infrastructure notes and development context where appropriate.
If you ever need it
Handover.
If a handover is requested, scope can include documentation review, repository access, infrastructure transition, credential transfer where possible, a technical handover session and transition support. A formal handover may be a paid professional service depending on project complexity and contract — we don't offer unlimited free transition work, but we won't make leaving artificially difficult either.
We'd rather earn your loyalty than engineer your dependence.
